Look to the side

I seem to remember that there was a landscape photography competition winner some years back where the photographer left a sheep in the photograph. The self appointed gatekeepers of the British landscape photography world were not happy about this. At all. Which is good.

There seems to be some unwritten rule for these people that a landscape photograph should be devoid of the evidence of human life. This shows a remarkable lack of understanding of how the landscape of Britain has come to look like it does. My photography often has minimal elements within the composition, but sometimes there is another photograph, and another story, to be found by looking to the side.
