TWELVE STRIPES

'Twelve  Stripes’ is an exhibition of selected images taken from an ongoing project. The aim, through abstraction and repetition, is to capture the topography and identity of the subject - in this case the shores around the Outer Hebrides. Presenting them in a way which at first seems unfamiliar but but with reflection become recognisable, promoting lingering thought while questioning our vision of, and relationship with, these everchanging Isles.

The concept behind Twelve Stripes formed in 2018 and continues into 2021 when further exhibitions are planned. Talla na Mara kindly requested a selection of these images to form an exhibition foregrounding the beaches of Harris.  The events of 2020 altered the plans of spring and through necessity the selection expanded across the Outer Hebrides to include the islands of Vatersay, Eriskay, South Uist, North Uist, Berneray and, of course, Harris.

Each of the twelve images is available within a strictly limited edition of twelve prints.

These 30 x 30cm prints are only available for the duration of the exhibition. Each print is carefully printed to order on museum grade photographic paper and the inks are cured in the air of the Outer Hebrides for 24-48 hours before packing.

Costing just £40 + p&p, prints can be ordered at the Exhibition or directly from An Solas Òir.

A general run of smaller prints are available exclusively at Talla na Mara for the duration of the exhibition.

The exhibition will be available to view until March 31st 2021

February update.

As the Western Isles are now under Tier 4 , Talla na Mara has had to close until these restrictions are lifted.  For those that haven't been able get to site a form of online gallery can be found here
