The pace of change at Cnoc Soilleir over the last week is astonishing. The rendering is finished, so I popped to site to have a look. This section of wall is a different colour. There are two tones of render on the walls. These views were expected but the progress inside the building was not - there are walls everywhere. What was ostensibly an open space is filling up with rooms! Acoustic insulation in the floors... The glasses on the planning desk have become more robust.
The rendering is making a huge change to the external appearance of Cnoc Soilleir over the last few days. Before the finish is complete, a little mess has to be made. However, the resulting finish is wonderful. My understanding is that the scaffolding can come down when both the rendering and roofing are finished (no small task). These look a lot like roofing tiles to me...
The Uist Arts Association Summer Open Exhibition is now open at Taigh Chearsabhagh and runs until August 14th. Some internal and external views of Cnoc Soilleir from the end of June. Within tolerance. Cleaner glasses than the last pair. Out of bounds today. This view is about to change again... The bus stop opposite the Cnoc.
The brief, but enjoyable, period of external minimalism may be coming to an end at Cnoc Soilleir. Inside information says that the renderers are scheduled to start on Monday. All these lines that I have been photographing (which were put into place with laser guided precision and exacting tolerance levels) are to disappear under the new (final?) façade.
